Summary / Objective
The VP, Senior Commercial Portfolio Manager is responsible for dealing with assigned portfolio of existing and prospective commercial customers. Responsibilities include identifying, gathering, and analyzing relevant information to assess credit risk, establish viability of sources of repayment and determine appropriate loan structures. They will also meet with customers on a regular basis, regularly visit the Bank's underlying collateral, and stay engaged and knowledgeable of the market.
This position is also responsible for growing the portfolio in line with the Bank's goals.
This incumbent is also responsible to assure documentation is in compliance with internal policies and procedures, and with state and/or federal regulations. Acts as lead analyst in collaboration with loan officer in preparing credit presentation with recommendations consistent with bank policy that illustrate well-reasoned analysis.
Experience & Education Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or Economics
Minimum of 10 years of experience in bank lending, loan review and/or compliance. Understanding of the elements of more complicated credit analysis and underwriting of CRE and C & I loans is a must.
Strong leadership, interpersonal, communication and computer skills
Essential Job Functions:
Provide general assistance to the SVP, Team Leader Commercial Lending, such as loan structuring and pricing, monitoring credit performance and assisting with loan presentations.
Is responsible for a Portfolio of Loans and serves as the Primary Point of Contact for all new requests, renewals, and maintenance for that Portfolio.
Analyzes financial data regarding loan requests for new, renewal and existing loans, including data provided by credit bureaus, other financial institutions and financial institution files.
Prepares spread sheets, reports, summaries and opinions for the SVP, Team Leader Commercial Lending on new, renewal and existing loans. Also included here are reports on past due loans, critical action plans and exception tracking.
Professional interaction and communication with customers and third-party professionals (Accountants, Attorneys, Environmental Engineers, etc.).
Meets with clients regularly and maintains open communication with them, including returning correspondences promptly.
Identifies problem loans, makes recommendations for assignments of loans to upgrade or downgrade Borrower risk ratings. Discusses the status of problem loans with the SVP, Team Leader Commercial Lending, VP, Credit Management Officer, and EVP & Chief Lending Officer and may make recommendations regarding the future credit information needs and preparation of critical action plans if applicable.
Recommends improvements to loan policies and credit risk review policies and procedures.
Maintains the privacy of customer information and the security of all records.
Maintains knowledge of department policies and procedures through internal and external training activities and stays current on all assigned training.
Prepares memos for Security Committee and management reports.
Other duties to be assigned by the SVP, Team Leader Commercial Lending and EVP & Chief Lending Officer.
Required knowledge, skills & abilities:
In depth knowledge of all federal and state regulations regarding lending and related departments
Strong understanding of accounting principles with ability to prepare and analyze financial statements.
Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Word, and Excel
Advanced written, oral, and interpersonal skills with ability to prepare and present presentations.
Ability to apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Ability to adapt to changing demands and requirements and work independently and in a team environment.
Compliance with BSA regulations as appropriate to the position
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Ability to use standard equipment such as computers, phones, & photocopiers.
Work involves standing and walking for brief periods of time, but most duties are performed from a seated position.
There is potential for eyestrain from reading detailed printouts and computer screen. Deadlines, workloads during peak periods and pressure may cause increased stress levels.
Work may involve light travel from time to time and occasional telecommuting.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
